Communion |
|
The Lord’s Supper is the sign and seal of eating and drinking in
communion with the crucified and risen Lord. In the Lord’s
Supper, the church blesses God by following God’s commands,
gives thanks to God for working in our lives, and anticipates
the fulfillment of the Kingdom Christ proclaimed. We are renewed
and empowered, sustained, and sealed in God’s covenant of grace
through Christ’s self-offering.

Who May Receive
|
The Lord’s Supper
is open to all who believe, trust, and follow Christ. Access to the Table is not
a right conferred upon the worthy, but a privilege given to the undeserving who
come in faith, repentance, and love. |
| |
|
When |
We celebrate the
Lord’s Supper generally on the first Sunday of every month. We also celebrate
Communion on special Sundays such as the Easter Sunrise Service and the
Christmas Eve 11:00 p.m. service.

|
Children |
Baptized children
who are being nurtured and instructed in the significance of the invitation to
the Table and the meaning of their response are invited to receive the Lord’s
Supper, recognizing that their understanding of participation will vary
according to their maturity. Parents may provide the primary instruction and
decide at what age their children are ready to receive communion. “Communion
classes” are periodically offered within the context of Sunday school to help
nurture and instruct our young children.

|
Responsibility |
The Session is
responsible for authorizing all observances of the Lord’s Supper. Communion is
administered by one of the pastors of the church and assisted by elders of the
church.
